Only 20 miles east of Puerto Rico, you can find Culebra. This island belongs to the Virgin Islands, in terms of geological structure. It is place of great scenic beauty, with hills rising up to 330ft/100m, and visitors do not yet overrun it.

Why is Culebra so special?
Beautiful deserted beaches, where a wild horse or sea turtle's nest is a more common sight than a tourist.. A wildlife sanctuary that encompasses almost half the island, but is accessible to all. You can snorkel or dive among coral reefs and colorful tropical fish. Activities like sailing, windsurfing, boating, fishing, and other water sports along with hiking or picnicking along the beaches or rolling hills of the interior are available. A relaxed, unhurried lifestyle where you will be treated as a friend and where hardly any doors are locked. A place where you can enjoy tranquility and simply get away from the noise and the fast pace of everyday life.

Culebra is one of the last remaining islands where you can still experience the charm and pristine tropical beauty of the Caribbean.

Island Facts:
Culebra is about seven miles long and three miles wide and is part of Puerto Rico, which is located 20 miles west. Population is about 2,000 people. It is a quiet, unspoiled island, where there is little tourism. The main village, Dewey (or “Pueblo” as the locals call it) is attractively set between two lagoons. You can find the visitor's information center in the City Hall.

The climate and landscape is similar to that of the neighboring Virgin Islands. You will find tropical forests on the hills and palm groves near the beaches. About 40% of the island is park or national reserve, including many beaches. The Culebra National Wildlife Refuge, comprising the 23 small off shore islands and four parcels of land on Culebra, protects large colonies of sea birds, particularly terns and boobies, and nesting sea turtles. Volunteers are welcomed to help Wildlife Refuge rangers count and protect nests and hatchlings.

Culebra has great sandy beaches, crystal clear waters and a beautiful coral reef.
